The weight of a full moving truck depends on the size of the truck and how much it's loaded with. Here's a general idea based on common truck sizes:

🔹 Small Truck (10–12ft)

  • Empty (curb) weight: ~5,000–6,000 lbs
  • Gross vehicle weight rating     (GVWR): ~8,600–9,000 lbs
  • Max loaded weight: ~8,000–9,000 lbs

🔹 Medium Truck (15–17ft)

  • Empty weight: ~8,000–10,000 lbs
  • GVWR: ~14,000–16,000 lbs
  • Max loaded weight: ~14,000–16,000 lbs

🔹 Large Truck (24–26ft)

  • Empty weight: ~12,000–15,000 lbs
  • GVWR: ~25,000–26,000 lbs
  • Max loaded weight: ~25,000–26,000 lbs

📝 Key Terms:

  • Curb Weight: The weight of the empty truck.
  • GVWR: The maximum allowable total weight of the truck plus its contents.
  • Payload: GVWR minus curb weight (i.e., how much stuff you can carry).

Example:

A 26-foot U-Haul truck:

  • Empty: ~14,000 lbs
  • GVWR: 26,000 lbs
  • So it can carry up to ~12,000 lbs of cargo.
